CCSC Eastern Region

24th Annual Eastern Conference 2008
October 10 and 11, 2008
Hood College, Frederick, Maryland

Now posted!

Watch for announcements about CCSCE-2009 at Villanova University, October 30-31, 2009. Their site will be at http://ccsce09.villanova.edu

Thanks to everyone who attended the CCSC Eastern 2008 Conference. We hope you found it useful and interesting.

The site will be retained for archival purposes, but will no longer be updated except for announcing results.

The Committee has prepared an exciting program consisting of scholarly papers, tutorials, workshops, panels and lightning talks on current areas of computing education. The Final Conference Program (PDF) is now available. Also check out the Program-at-a-Glance (PDF) for a quick overview of the events.

There's also an updated campus map showing on-campus and nearby parking. Be forewarned that on-campus parking on Friday may be difficult, but the campus is small and nearby on-street parking is only a short walk from the Conference location - and the terrain is flat.

The CCSC Eastern Conference 2008 provides an affordable regional forum for exchange of ideas and information concerning computing and computing curricula in smaller academic institutions.

Our banquet speaker will be John P. (J.D.) Dougherty of Haverford College, informing and entertaining us with his presentation of "Well, My Computing Teacher Sings To Us!": Making Music to Help Students Learn. The keynote speaker will be Catherine C. McGeoch of Amherst College speaking on Experimental Algorithmics for Undergraduates. Thomas Murtagh of Williams College has been invited to present Enriching CS 1 with a Networking Theme. There will be pre- and post-conference workshops, several tutorials, panels, lightning talks, and six sessions for papers.

Two exciting activities are planned for students, a poster session and an undergraduate Programming Competition.

Even if you missed the deadline for paper submissions to be included in the Journal of Computing Sciences, there are still opportunities to actively participate. We invite you to present a "Lightning Talk" or "Nifty Idea," prepare a faculty or student poster, chair a session, or simply to attend. More information is available in the original Call for Participation, and important basic contact information and details are listed below. We hope that you will join us and assure you that you will enjoy a rewarding experience.

Encourage your students to come as a Programming Team or Poster Presenter, too!
