It was a huge success! Thank you to those of you that participated in the Community Fair. Once again we are looking for student groups to be represented during the day from 3:30 - 5:30pm. There is another $50 prize for the Best Overall Presentation from a student club or organization. I have attached a flyer with more details about how to win. Congratulations to LUL for winning the $50 prize for the February 26 day! You can contact me to receive your award. Every group that wants a table (even those that have already told me they want one) need to submit the attached form by this Friday March 24. This form will guarantee your spot and let me know if you need an outlet. Outlets will be on a first come, first serve basis. If you do not request an outlet, you will not have access to one during the event. So what do you need to do? 1. Email or Communes the attached table request form to me by Friday March 24 2. Work with your organization to prepare for the event. 3. Arrive Saturday April 1 between 3-3:30 to set-up your table Let me know if you have questions. Thanks for your help. I look forward to hearing from you! ~Ashly Nickel Assistant Director of Admissions X3814 -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... The Big Sweep is a program by Volunteer Frederick; we give up a Saturday to pick up litter and trash in and around Frederick city, and we collect donations for doing so. For those who couldn't attend last meeting: the Big Sweep cleanup date is Saturday, April 22nd. We will go to the breakfast provided to us that morning, spend the rest of the morning picking up trash, and finish the day with a lunch sponsored by Dr. Dimitoglou. Rides can be provided from the Hood campus. This message has two purposes. First, I need to know the names and T-shirt sizes of anyone who's willing to come with us and help with the cleanup effort. Even if you pledged support at the last meeting, I still your shirt size, so please send me a message (or see me in person) again about this. Secondly, we're looking for donations towards our effort. Your donation not only helps the ACM, but everybody in Frederick county. Last year, the Hood College team raised over $6000; we hope to exceed that amount this year, and we can only do so with the support of everyone! Ask your family, your friends, and your coworkers to help out! Donation checks should be made out to "The BIG Sweep", and can be mailed to me: Cory Petosky c/o Hood College 401 Rosemont Ave. Frederick, MD 21701 You can also donate over the Internet. If you wish to use Paypal to get your donation to us, you can send to this address: cory@tanatopia.net If you wish to use the Hood College teams' donation form, with a Visa or MasterCard, it is at the following address -- http://www.firstgiving.com/hoodcollege NOTE: You *must* type "For ACM@Hood" in the donation comments box to make sure our organization gets the redit for your donation! Otherwise, your funds will be split amongst all the clubs at Hood College. Naturally, you may also give any collected donations to me personally, to any other ACM@Hood officers, or our faculty advisor, Dr. Dimitoglou. With everyone's assistance, we can make this the best Big Sweep yet. The Hood College ACM chapter, the Volunteer Frederick (http://www.volunteerfrederick.org) organization, and everybody else who lives or works in Frederick county thank you in advance for your assistance! -Cory Petosky From cory at tanatopia.net Thu Mar 30 15:58:52 2006 From: cory at tanatopia.net (Cory Petosky) Date: Thu Mar 30 15:58:32 2006 Subject: [HoodACM] ACM Withdrawal from Big Sweep Message-ID: <442C468C.20300@tanatopia.net> ACMers, The Dickenson University programming competition was moved to the date of the Big Sweep. Unfortunately, all but one of our Big Sweepers are also programming team members, so we are no longer able to participate in the Big Sweep. -Cory Petosky ACM@Hood Chair
